Olympus Youth Development Program Officially Launched
Xinhua News Agency, Athens, November 29 — While the flame for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics is being relayed across Greece, the Beijing Olympic Culture Promotion Association, together with the Hellenic Olympic Committee and the International Olympic Academy, held a joint press conference in Athens a few days ago to officially launch the “Olympus Youth Development Program,” which includes a series of international events.

According to the organizers, the first phase of the “Olympus Youth Development Program” mainly consists of three core events:
- An international youth football tournament held every two years in Olympia,
- An urban esports super league that promotes healthy ecosystems through education,
- A Youth Arts Olympiad that revives the ancient Greek tradition of the “Pentathlon of the Muses.”
Xia Shujun, President of the Beijing Olympic Culture Promotion Association, stated that the association will deepen cooperation with Greek partners in three major areas — civilizational dialogue, technology empowerment, and sports innovation — so that cultural and sporting forms carrying Chinese wisdom can go global, injecting new vitality into the Olympic Movement in the new era.
Isidoros Kouvelos, President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, said the HOC will support all related activities, including the China–Greece Young Entrepreneurs Exchange Forum and the international events’ award ceremonies.
Charilaos Vassilakos, President of the International Olympic Academy, said he looks forward to seeing more young people visit the birthplace of the Olympic Games.
